Hot Springs
Rotorua and its surrounding lakes is the most popular tourist area of the North Island and abounds with quality hotels, motor lodges, and motels.

Because of the boiling mud pools, gushing geysers and bubbling hot springs, it has been nicknamed "Sulphur  City" because of the strong smell of sulphurous gases that you come across occasionally.

With geothermal areas close to the city at Whakarewarewa with its large Maori cultural centre, the area caters for the tourist with a wide range of cultural shows and feasts (hangi). Rotorua Accommodation
